Three patterns run through that table. Protection ceiling rises with chassis size, because heavier frames absorb heavier plating. Discretion falls as capability rises, and no platform gives you both. An armored SUV is a factory sport utility vehicle rebuilt with certified ballistic steel, ballistic composite, and bullet-resistant glass, from Alpine A4 (CEN B4) to Alpine A12 (CEN B7+). We offer over 45 models, from the Chevrolet Suburban to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Armored Sedan
An armored sedan is a passenger car rebuilt to preserve the factory silhouette and ride. Eleven of our 13 sedans run Alpine A4 (CEN B4) to A9 (CEN B6+), including the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, and Toyota Camry. The Mercedes-Benz S580 S-Class and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class reach Alpine A12 (CEN B7+).
Armored Pickup Truck
An armored pickup truck is a body-on-frame truck built from Alpine A4 (CEN B4) to Alpine A12 (CEN B7+) for payload and unimproved roads. We offer 17 models, including the Ford F-350, Toyota Land Cruiser 79, MASTIFF®, and the electric Typhoon®.
Armored Van or Bus
An armored van or bus is a high-capacity platform built to move teams rather than individuals. Every model publishes a seat count: the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Metris, and Toyota Sienna seat 7, the Honda Odyssey 8, the POINTER® 10, the Toyota HiAce 15, and the Toyota Coaster 22. All run Alpine A4 (CEN B4) to A9 (CEN B6+), and the Coaster is export only.
SWAT / APC Truck
A SWAT or APC truck is a purpose-built tactical platform running Alpine A9 (CEN B6+) to Alpine A12 (CEN B7+), with floor protection against two DM51 hand grenades. The Pit-Bull VX® seats 10 and weighs 16,600 lbs at Alpine A9 or 20,400 lbs at Alpine A12. The Pit-Bull VXT® seats 4 in law enforcement trim and weighs 16,700 lbs at Alpine A9.
Cash-in-Transit Vehicle
A cash-in-transit vehicle is a van or truck built to move cash and valuables. We build seven. The Ford Transit, Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana vans run Alpine A4 (CEN B4) to A9 (CEN B6+), and the International MV Series truck reaches Alpine A12 (CEN B7+).

We rate protection on a 12-level scale from Alpine A1 through Alpine A12, cross-referenced to NIJ, CEN EN 1063, VPAM, and NATO STANAG 4569. Four levels carry most real-world demand:

What Discretion Costs You in Capability
Discretion and capability pull against each other, and every buyer picks a point on that line. A protected Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series looks identical to the factory car in a hotel forecourt, which is exactly the point when your risk model includes surveillance and targeting. That same sedan gives you four seats, limited trunk volume, and a practical protection ceiling around Alpine A9 (CEN B6+).
Move up to a full-size SUV, and you gain two or three seats, real cargo volume, and a protection ceiling at Alpine A12 (CEN B7+), while keeping most of the visual anonymity. The Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade ESV sit at this intersection, which explains why they dominate government and corporate fleets.
Go further into pickup trucks, SWAT/APC platforms, and CIT vehicles, and discretion disappears. A Pit-Bull VX® on an F-600 chassis announces itself from three blocks away. Armored SUV vs Armored Sedan
Choose an SUV when you need more than five seats or cargo volume. On protection alone, the gap is narrower than buyers assume: six of eight SUV pages reach Alpine A12 (CEN B7+), against two of 13 sedans. Choose a sedan when the principal’s profile demands that the vehicle attract no attention at all.
The SUV wins on ceiling and capacity. For cash-in-transit, choose a purpose-built CIT van or truck rather than an armored SUV. CIT is a cargo problem with a ballistic requirement attached, and SUVs solve the opposite problem.

Choose a pickup truck when the vehicle has to work every day and blend into a commercial fleet. Choose a SWAT/APC platform when the vehicle exists for the incident and needs to survive contact.
Both reach Alpine A12 (CEN B7+), and pickups start lower at Alpine A4 (CEN B4), so protection alone will not decide it. The pickup keeps a road-legal footprint, a factory cab, and normal maintenance at a dealer network, which matters for energy, mining, and site security fleets that log real mileage.
