Our engineering team ensures each bulletproof car and armored truck meets strict stability and performance standards. Technical assessments optimize the center of gravity, finite-element and stress analyses including refine rigidity and overall handling. The strategic use of bullet-resistant, certified armored materials (both opaque and transparent) maintains excellent drivability while enhancing all around protection.
Our engineering team, combined with decades experience in research and fundamentals of armoring, designs each armor package for each specific model, combining various opaque materials (ballistic steel of different Brinell/hardness, ceramic materials including aluminum carbide, silicon carbide, and boron carbide, polyethylene composite fiber including Aramid®, and often in combinations and with patented fabrication techniques). For opaque protection, we employ certified hardened ballistic steel plating from 3mm to 14mm.
The protection levels typically range from Alpine Armoring’s A4 (equivalent to CEN B4/NIJ HG2/UL 3) to A12 (CEN B7+/NIJ RF3+/UL 10+/STANAG III+), with most of our civilian armored vehicles built to level A9 (CEN B6+/NIJ RF2/UL 8/STANAG I). Our proprietary no-spall transparent armor minimizes delamination while maximizing optical performance, and polyurethane compounds are incorporated to reduce transparent weight.
We recognize that our Research and Development (R&D) departments are both essential and necessary for our custom-armoring process. This laborious and evolving process has no end in sight.
For the past three decades, our group of companies have regularly conducted numerous meticulous and unique live-fire tests at our testing facilities in Virginia and Texas, often with third-party validation.
The R&D is not only on the armored material (opaque and transparent for both the low profile and high profile vehicles), but also on the latest welding techniques, the custom-manufacturing of certain components, and the actual distribution of the added weight by performing various vehicle dynamic and numerous other performance related tests. The latest nanotechnology in material science, including better formation of molding of key components, plus infusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our day-to-day manufacturing make this process both challenging and exciting for our dedicated and highly skilled team.

Our certifications are not just for the armored material, rather for the entire retrofitted vehicle after it is armored. Those certifications include VR7 from Germany's Beschussamt München, rigorous testing conducted by the United States Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), and numerous other issued by certified independent laboratories. We often exceed government standards in nearly every area, especially when evaluating materials against multiple high-powered threats in varied conditions.
Each armored sedan, SUV, van, and truck undergoes thorough suspension, braking, and handling calibration for optimal performance across diverse terrain, both on paved roads and off-road, in varying weather conditions.
Hydropneumatic systems, torsion bars, and precision coil springs are typically included to allow for the added weight and to enhance stability. Deceleration and stability tests ensure reliable stopping power. All aimed to develop the most optimized and drivable armored vehicle while maximizing the end user's security and safety when operating it.
